Brazil has numerous events going on throughout the year. We have listed some of these on our various Brazil destination sites, and we think they are a great time to come visit! Even if you can't make it during one of the listed events, there is sure to be something interesting happening when you do come - just send us an email and we'll be sure to let you know. Also try to book your Brazil hotel in a good location, preferentially close to the event area.

Events Calendar

The Brasil Sabor happens every year in Belo Horizonte usually at the first semester with more than 70 bars participate offering dishes that represent the local gastronomy. Its main objective is to develop regional cuisine.

Held in Minas Gerais, the Minastchê is a fair of products and services that express the culture of people from Rio Grande do Sul, also known as gauchos.

One of the most important gastronomic festivals of Minas Gerais state, the Ora-Pro-Nobis Festival that happens every year in Sabará, a small city situated 23km north of Belo Horizonte.

Pirenopolis is famous for performing the story of Festa do Divino Espírito Santo, a tradition begun in 1819 and completed for the Cavalhadas Festival.

During the time of the Piri Jazz Festival, Pirenopolis is known as the new jazz centre of Brazil.

Held in cities throughout Brazil, Ouro Preto can be no different when it comes to the June Festival. The event is celebrated in various parts of the city. The community gathers along with students at the Federal University of Ouro Preto and many visitors, all who take time to come to know the culture and art of the historic city. The festival features delicious foods and parades, in addition to the traditional bonfires and stalls.

This strongly supported parade is one of the biggest and loudest cries for equal rights in the world.

Hundreds of faithful and tourists visit the city during Corpus Christi to take part in the holy festivities and traditions associated with the holiday. During Holy Week, the streets of Ouro Preto are lined with a beautiful carpet of flowers and sawdust, about 3 kilometres long, serving for the passage of the Blessed Sacrament. It is a great opportunity to visit the city and attend a traditional religious ceremony.

Florianopolis will host for the 3rd consecutive year the Half Marathon organized by O2 in June 2013. The route will be all flat, by the sea, offering spectacular views! There will also be options of 5 and 10 km routes.

This is a cinematography event held the second week of June, annually.

A parade of horses will precede the "Festa Junina", which is a traditional holiday celebration in the northeast of Brazil.

Ganepao 2013 is one of the most traditional events for clinical nutrition.

This celebration is the largest regional party.

The PROFT 2013 is a symposium for translators.

The Corpus Christi festivity is a celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus. It´s one of the most traditional festivities in Brazil. 

The Winter Festival of Diamantina happens every July with a diferent theme each year. This edition theme is Projections, Captures and processes.

Rain, sweat, beer and lots of fun will be at the biggest carnival in the state! Tourists from all over the world come to "jump" the carnival in Diamantina. You cannot stay out of it!

Aleijadinho was a famous artist, master architect and sculptor, considered by many to be the most important artist of the Baroque style in Brazil and worldwide. He crafted dozens of churches in Ouro Preto and its districts. His masterpieces include the soapstone statues of the 12 prophets (1800-1805) and 66 figures in cedar (1796) that make up the Via Crucis .

The Vivo art.mov is an International Festival of Art in Mobile Media that occurs parallel with the Eletronika Music Festival. Both festivals promote the art, technology, urban and ecology.

The city of Lençóis offers several options for the population and tourists during the turn of the year.

The São Silvestre Marathon is a traditional street marathon that happens every 31st of December on the day of Saint Sylvester. This internationally-known marathon draws runners from around the world.

Carnaval in Curitiba starts a month earlier. A group called “Garibaldis e Sacis” play every Sunday in the afternoon on Largo da Ordem, the old town. Don't miss this very popular and fun event!

Poconé city will celebrate 230 years of political and administrative independence. The city will be promoteing soccer championships, musical bands and local expositions. The event starts on Wednesday and lasts until Sunday.

After the stairs are washed with perfumed water, a mass will be held to celebrate the beginning of a new year.

The celebration of the Lord of Passos, patron saint of miners, starts on the 24th when followers wash the stairs of the church. Between the 23th of December and the 2nd of January, the city is awakened by a dawn fire, followed by artistic presentations and folklore performances. On the last day of the novena, a mass is held with prayer and followed by a procession.

Happening every March, Festival de Curitiba is a traditional event spread all over the city. Come and enjoy the great atmosphere and the wide cultural programming that includes everyone from artists to cooks!

Surfers and surf lovers can not  miss the 3rd Air Show! Air Show Tide 2011 is the main air surf competition that will be held on Praia de Fora, Ilha do Mel on April 2nd.

Usually in April Belo Horizonte holds the biggest Carnival out of time, the Axé Brasil. Its features the most famous names of the Bahian music.

In tribute to his fighting attitude and honesty during the Minos Conspiracy and the Brazilian push for independence, the city of Ouro Preto honors its main leader, Tiradentes, through a civil ceremony in the town square on April 21.

The Linha Verde Half Marathon happens every year at the Linha Verde, a recently inaugurated road that conects the city center to the main airport of Belo Horizonte.

Ouro Preto's Holy Week means experiencing a roadmap of art, faith and culture. A carpet of flowers is made as people walk more than two miles to connect the paroquias, Pilar and Antonio Dias.

Rio de Janeiro will be one of the official host cities in Brazil for the World Cup in 2014. Maracanã Stadium is expected to host the final match.
